Independent Private Schools of California
IPS California exists to represent the interests of a range of private schools in California.
IPS California reviews legislation and regulations with a focus on issues of concern to private schools and takes action as needed according to the interests of the private schools we represent. We have worked for over 30 years to represent California’s private schools at the state legislature in Sacramento. Among other things, we have worked to:
- Protect flexibility in early childhood education
- Keep school administrators in control of curriculum and teaching methods
- Protect private schools from being forced to manage additional loads of healthcare monitoring and services such as requirements to provide mandatory eye, dental, and general health exams to all students
- Promote the ability of private schools to provide a full education to their students
- Keep homeschooling as a viable option as a species of private school
